This unit has a short power-supply cord to reduce the risk resulting from becoming entangled in or tripping over a longer cord. An extension cord may be used if you are careful in its use. IF a longer detachable power supply cord or extension cord is used, (1) the marked electrical rating of the cord set or extension cord should be at least as great as the electrical rating of the appliance, and (2) the cord should be arranged so that it will not drape over the countertop, or table top or industrial hood or where it can be pulled on by children, inexperienced personnel or tripped over accidentally. The portable immersion heater is of the grounded type, the extension should be a grounding type 3-wire cord. The power cord must be kept dry and must not be bent or have anything put on top of it.
To reduce the hazard of potential shock, the portable immersion heater has a grounded 3-prong plug. The use of a 3-2 prong electrical adapter where (one blade is wider than the other), which will fit only one way in a polarized outlet with the ground being properly connected. If the plug does not fit the outlet properly, turn the plug the other way, if it does not fit, contact a qualified electrician for assistance.
